Prince A.P.Oldenburgsky
The second son of Teresa and Peter Oldenburgsky was born on May 21, 1844. He got en excelent home education, completed the full course of jurisprudence. Been put on the list of Preobrazhenskii house hold troops from the moment of his birth, he choosed military and court career, having got his military education during the active service.
"The right man on the right place" was his motto.
He took part in Russian-Turkish war of 1877-78 as a major-general. During the military operations was in charge of "Petrovskaya" brigade of Preobrazhenskii and Semenovskii regiments. Awarded with the Order of St.George, St.Vladimir with the swords and a golden sabre "For the Courage".

During the first world war Alexander Oldenburgsky was put at the head of all the army's medical and evacuation service.
Infantry General, General-Adjutant of H.R.M. suite, he was also a senator and a member of the Parliament.
Iliya Repin portrayed the prince in his "Ceremonial Meeting of the Parliament".Nowadays the picture inself and the scetch depicting Prince, is kept by the Russian Museum in St-Petersburg.
After the death of his father, Prince Petr Georgievich (1812-1881), Alexander Oldenburgsky inherited the trustee's duty over the Royal Law School, Prince Petr Georgievich Oldenburgsky Charity House, Azylum Care House, the Nurse Community of St.Trinity.
In 1897 he became the chairman of the "antiplague" committee.
Gagra health resort owes it's looks to A.P.Oldenburgsky.

But the main achievement of his life was the Imperial institute of experimental medicine, the first scientific research institute in Russia. The history of the institute is noteworthy, and Prince Oldenburgsky was the the organiser and the trustee of the institute.

Alexander Petrovich was married to Eugenia Maximilianovna, the daughter of Grand Duchess Maria Nikolaevna and Prince Maximilian Leightenbergsky.
In the autumn of 1917 A.P.Oldenburgsky emigrated to France and made his residence Biarritz, where Ivan Pavlov visited him in 1929.
In 1924, soon after the death of their son Peter Eugenia Maximilianovna passed away, Alexander Petrovich died in 1932.
