DOMAIN STRUCTURE OF THE LDL RECEPTOR Domain structure of the LDL receptor (adopted from A.Soutar, J.L.Goldstein, M.S.Brown
and web-page http://www.umd.necker.fr/LDLR/Home_Page.html
) The LDL receptor consists of five structural protein domains named at the left border of the figure. The exons of the LDL receptor gene are shown on the right in correspondence with the polypeptide chain fragments encoded by them. The arrows and the undulating thin lines indicate the N- and O- linked sugars in the second and third domains of the receptor correspondingly. The cysteine-rich repeats of the first and second domains of the LDL receptor are indicated by Roman numerals I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII and by the capital letters A, B, C. The black circles mark the positions of the cysteine residues. The material for this page is provided by F.M.Zakharova
