| There is the Pavlov's study, where Ivan Pavlov worked for 45 years, from the Department organization up to 1936, the year of his death. This study server for the scientific conversations, for the conferences and as a resting place, because the main part of his time Pavlov spent in the laboratory and operating-room. There are the writing table, sofa, tea-table with a kettle and utensil. Above the writing table there are the photos of famous German scientists of the 19th century Karl Ludwig and Hermann Helmholtz. In the 80th of the 19 century Pavlov worked n the laboratory of Ludwig on the problem of blood circulation. In the 30-ties of the 20th century Pavlov worked also at the biological station in Koltushi, mainly in summer. At that time the investigations on genetic of behavior started in Koltushi. The working day of Ivan Pavlov started in the garden at 6 a.m., and he arrived in the lab. by 9 in the morning. There is a portrait above the sofa, depicting him in his Koltushi's study. The portrait was made by a famous Russian painter Nesterov, a family friend. Pavlov was fond of art and had a collection of pictures, especially the views. He had a habit of meditating in front of his pictures for about half-an-hour in the morning. Pavlov was very punctual: every day he arrived at the department at 9-00 in the morning and finished his work at 5 p.m. He always made his way to the Department and back home on foot. In February 1936 Pavlov caught pneumonia and died in 10 days, on 27 February, 1936. In the glass-case in the study there is the postmortem mask and a hand mould of Ivan Pavlov. In the glass-case there are his personal things. |
